Primary school students and 5-year-olds from kindergarten visited the exhibition Dear Pinocchio, curated by ADI Milan and dedicated to Collodi’s famous puppet. The exhibition—organized by MAECI and the Italian Consulate in Izmir, in collaboration with the Metropolitan Municipality—was held at the Konak Metro Art Gallery.
Our school was filled with color, music, and joy for this year’s Carnival celebration! With imaginative masks, eco-friendly capes made by the children, games, dancing, and creative workshops, we enjoyed a special day full of fun. It was a magical moment that brought imagination and smiles together!

At the Italian school, we… made TIRAMISÙ! For Italian Cuisine Week in the World 2023, we learned how to prepare tiramisù, and not only that… we even got to eat some!

Through a Zoom connection and thanks to Pizzeria Brandi in Naples, where the margherita pizza originated many years ago, we explored the history of this exquisite Italian dish. Together with our students, their parents, and the Consul of Italy in Izmir, Valerio Giorgio, we had a great time chatting and acting as pizza chefs!
Thanks to this exhibition, we had the opportunity to discover several Turkish painters who moved to France, especially to Paris, in the early 20th century to breathe in the “intellectual air” of this wonderful city and draw inspiration from it.
For M’illumino di Meno (literally translated as “I light up less” in English), the Italian National Day of Energy Saving and Sustainable Lifestyles, primary school children and their parents took part in fun classroom activities and reflected on current and important ecological issues.

Together with the parents of our students, we visited the Arkas Mattheys Mansion in Bornova — a fairytale journey through the culture and history of carpets.
For Libriamoci 2023, Reading Days in Schools, we visited the İzmir Kültür Sanat Fabrikası in Alsancak, a large and fascinating museum where we were able to see many interesting historical artifacts. Together with the five-year-olds from nursery school, our primary school students read The Wonderful World of Oz… Through reading, we are free to dream!

On the occasion of The May of Books 2022, we organized a collective reading twinning with I.C. G. Pascoli in Matera, Italy. Tina Festa, creator of the Caviardage method, and her students read and shared special moments with us! We were also joined by the Italian Consul in İzmir, Valerio Giorgio.
Giuliano Gloghini, President of the Italian-Turkish Friendship Association of Izmir, came to visit us at school. We shared ideas and talked about projects and activities.
To celebrate, we crafted our own puppets and then invented comical theatrical scripts!
On the occasion of World Theatre Day we decided to stage a nice costume play starring two mismatched socks on the stage of our school theater! We had fun and at the same time we reflected on the fact that we are all the same, all different and all important.
Our school, dedicated to educating and welcoming children with respect for linguistic and cultural diversity, met with parents to share group teaching activities with them aimed to raise awareness of the languages and cultures around the world.
The 2022-2023 school year came to a joyful close, with many new goals achieved! The parents of our students and the Consul of Italy in Izmir, Valerio Giorgio, joined us for the closing ceremony.
We said goodbye to the old year with dancing and playing! Now we look forward to 2024 with smiles and joy!

We set up an outdoor exhibition at İzmir Sanat Merkezi in Alsancak with our students’ drawings. The common thread of the works was water, with its characteristics and its immense value. Creativity is the tool we have chosen to let our students express ideas and emotions on this important topic.
