Space!… Our Carnival theme. Clouds, planets, rain and much more were our costumes. Pulcinella and Corallina came to school and wanted to play with us. Together with them, we played balance and coordination games, transforming ourselves into skilled transporters of delicious pizzas.

The New Year is coming and we are welcoming it with joy and energy. We greeted our special guest, Santa Claus, we danced, sang and played. Santa Claus brought us gifts!

As each year, the primary school and kindergarten participated to Libriamoci. Reading days in schools. Two of the proposed themes by Libriamoci were chosen: “We will save the world” and “Gianni Rodari: the wordsˊ game, between sounds and colors”. The activities involved the whole school and our guest was Buket Kasalı, academic coordinator of the Italian Language Department at the Ekonomi University of Izmir, with whom we built puppets using waste material. We had a small show with the puppets, using our little “Ecological Theater”.

Italian cuisine is famous all around the world, and one of its most popular dishes is pizza. For this reason we decided to prepare it all together at school. As real pizza makers, we knead the dough, put the tomato sauce on it and baked it!

The week dedicated to local products has been celebrated at school with many different activities. After creating a map of the products growing and produced in Turkey we prepared a tasting table to present them geographically. We discovered more about Turkish carpets and made one for ourselves.

A French artist, Bernard Pras, installed his masterpiece at İzmir Fransız Kültür Merkezi. He reproduced Dora Maar, a famous painting by Picasso, only using recycled materials. It was really great!

We went to admire the great Pablo Picasso exhibition at Arkas Sanat Merkezi. There were paintings, costumes and objects designed and created by him. It was fun creating our “Picasso face”.

The Italian Language Week in the World 2019 was celebrated in our school. The linden of our garden was transformed into the… Italian language, and we spoke with her. Surprisingly, the Indians arrived danced and sang in Italian. The Italian Consul of Izmir Valerio Giorgio and the President of the Com. It. Es. of Izmir Maria Elisa Sponza also had lot of fun with us.

The Earth is the wonderful planet in which we are living. For the global week dedicated to  climate changes, we recreated the contaminated earth and water that we wish not to see anymore.

We participated to the international event held in NATO base of Izmir. In the photograph, together with us, the Italian Consul of Izmir Valerio Giorgio and Cinzia Braggiotti representative of the Arkas Education and Cultural Foundation.

A new school year is going to start and we are very excited and willing to do many things. During the opening day the Italian Consul of Izmir Valerio Giorgio and Cinzia Braggiotti from Arkas Education and Cultural Foundation came to visit us.

It was a productive year, we have been working so hard and we could not wait this moment to come: we finally received our report cards! The Italian Consul of İzmir Valerio Giorgio and the President of the Arkas Education and Cultural Foundation, Lucien Arkas, was with us for this joyful day.

We are not only students, but also actors, dancers and singers. We had a lot of fun, and our audience enjoy it a lot!

We have set up an exhibition with our students’ drawings at the Italian Cultural Center to celebrate the Children’s Day. “Me too” was an opportunity to share art, cheerfulness and fun. We dedicated it to the children, to remember that their rights should be always respected.

Thanks to HAMİ project, we invited our friends from “Kahramanlar Mustafa Öğütveren Elementary School” to play in our garden. Each of us has created his own

“Grass head”. We just have to wait and see which one will have the longest hair.

Ancient paintings, miniatures, objects and naval instruments made us dream of navigation. At the ship’s wheel, ready to leave and navigate around the world.

Water is necessary for life, and it is important to remember that we must not contaminate and waste it. Water also makes our beautiful flowers grow up.

On March 27th, in the occasion of the World Theater Day, we have organized a pantomime show that was very, very funny. There were also some of our friends, who were so much involved in the show and enjoyed it a lot.

Grandparents are very special and we should not forget it. They have so many things to teach, experiences to tell and tips to give us. We invited them to school and we played together remembering their childhood.

For the HAMİ project, together with our teachers, we went to the “Kindergarten and Primary  Mustafa Öğütveren School”. We brought some school supplies to them, we listened to stories, mimed and illustrated the most important moments.

After speaking about human body’s parts, we discovered our five senses. Through some experiments and lots of fun, we could understand the importance that each of them has in our daily life.

Self-portraits, landscapes and still life! How many new words we learned while analyzing and commenting the beautiful paintings in the exhibition!

One of the subject of this year was the deforestation: cutting down trees can be very dangerous because it can cause landslides. After watching a cartoon we planted small trees.

This year we had a lot of fun watching “Good night”: it is really hard to fall asleep when the blankets are too short, the pajamas are uncomfortable and nothing lets you relax!

Carnival is much funnier when celebrated all together. This year new friends came to visit us, and it was great playing together, wearing masks and dancing.

On the occasion of the Yerli Malı Haftası we all brought to school different kinds of food produced in Turkey. Nuts, peanuts, figs, popcorn and much more. We have learned that the land we live on, offers us so many nutritive and tasty products.

It’s important to be aware of different professions since childhood.  Working is really important for all of us. We went to discover an upholsterer’s shop: clothes, furniture to be covered, cotton…!

Within the activities related to the project of professions, we decided to give space to chefs, too! As the Italian tradition recommends, we prepared a very tasty ‘’Focaccia’’ with our teachers. .

2018 is the international year of Italian food in the world! We all became “Italian Chefs” for a day and we prepared a delicious tiramisu to taste it at home with our families.

Not only that, we also watched a really funny cartoon, and we discovered that we aren’t as messy as Duffy Duck is!

We visited the museum of Atatürk with our students to commemorate him.

Also this year the primary school and kindergarten attended Libriamoci. Reading days in schools, the campaign of the Center for books and reading born from an agreement between the Ministry of Education, University and Research and the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities.

Leonardo da Vinci, our special guest, was with us from October the 22nd to 24th, showing us his works and how extraordinary he was.  Our parents joined us and our special reader was the Italian Consul of Izmir, Dr. Luigi Iannuzzi, who read us some really interesting subjects and we built together a small parachute. It has been an unforgettable experience.

On the occasion of the 18th edition of the Italian Language Week in the World we organized an event for making our families more familiar with the Italian language. The Italian Consul of İzmir, Dr. Luigi Iannuzzi, and the President of the COM.IT.ES of Izmir Maria Elisa Sponza were with us. We had the chance to present ItaliAmo, an application for learning Italian, while the children enjoyed some interactive games.

On the occasion of the “1001 nights” exhibition at the Arkas Sanat Merkezi, the artist Julien Salaud installed his art at the İzmir Fransız Kültür Merkezi based on the same theme. He composed the human figures with several kilometers of wire and thousands of nails. Everything was shining in the dark room. We were amazed!

We have lived a real fairy tale! The paintings and clothes made us feel as if we were on a flying carpet!

Eating healthy is important for living well! For this reason, we went shopping with our teachers, who taught us to identify the products on the shelves, to check the expiry date and to notice the discount.

This year we have participated to the “International Day” held in NATO base of İzmir. In the photograph  the Ankara Italian Ambassador Luigi Mattiolo, the Italian General of the Army Corps Paolo Ruggiero, the Italian Consul of İzmir Luigi Iannuzzi with their wives and our school representatives.

We inaugurated the new school year with the Italian Consul of İzmir Luigi Iannuzzi and with the President of Arkas Education and Cultural Foundation Lucien Arkas.

Spring has arrived; many flowers bloomed, trees are now full of green leaves and insects. Small animals are around our garden. It was really exciting exploring, together with our teachers, the beauty of our environment. We also studied the life cycle of some animals.

We can learn so many things at school, even how to behave while eating! Together with our teachers we learned to setup the table, to sit appropriately and to use forks, knives and spoons in the right way. It was funny and useful, now we can help mum and dad at home!

It`s always important knowing how to behave when we walk around the city. With our teachers we learnt the meaning of the different signals and the rules that we should respect when we cross the road. We had lots of fun building a small city in our classroom and driving miniature cars, planes and trains!

We were very happy and excited for the end of the year show. For our special audience, we were actors, dancers and musicians!

Nature is always full of surprises. We had a wonderful adventure with animals and plants.

The Italian İzmir Consul Luigi Iannuzzi and the President of Arkas Education and Cultural Foundation Lucien Arkas gave us the report cards. We sang all together and it was a beautiful day to finish another school year.

First we listened to a beautiful fairy tale, then with colors, scissors, paper bags and lots of imagination we created our puppets with our little hands. The paper bags turned out in to beautiful puppets!

Dinosaurs!  Dinosaurs!  With songs, dramas, activities and experiments we discovered their life and characteristics.

We decided to share our student’s drawings by organizing an exhibition named “Fingerprints” and we also celebrated “Children’s Day”. Surrounded by colors, drawings, parents and the Italian Consul of Izmir Luigi Iannuzzi, our students had a lot of fun singing and dancing at the Italian Cultural Center.

The İzmir Opera House has fascinated us with its architecture. We were immersed in polyphonic music, into the colors and dance. It seemed to be in a fairy tale.

We had fun with jokes and riddles! All of us had worn colorful costumes.

Our attention was on the puppets and the show was really fun.

We examined the waste materials and talked about the difference between waste and garbage. We have drawn and colored with different materials. We remind the importance of recycling.

We had so much fun with the cookie-man: he helped us to learn mathematics, manual skills, and the language of social development.

With our teachers we learned to recognise the forms and we noticed that around us there are so many: stars, hearts, squares, triangles..! We had lots of fun trying to recreate them with different materials.

Thanks to this project we have created our telescope and examined the sky. After having dramatized the formation of day and night, we have completed our activity. Finally, we created our spaceship, we became astronauts and we went into the space.

All classes are working hard for our Nutrition Friendly School project.

We visited the “Landscapes of Water exhibition” at the Arkas Art Center.  While listening to music we closed our eyes dreamed about the landscapes and we enjoyed producing our own works.

On the 10^th of November, on the occasion of the commemoration of Atatürk’s death, kindergarten students visited the Atatürk Museum.

We had fun watching this show on diversity and tolerance.

Kindergarten classes have been engaged in an inquiry-based project on bread. We started our work with the story of bread and we supported the activities with experiments, art activities, games, mathematics studies, reading and writing activities. We also experienced the excitement of baking in our kitchen. We talked about the wasted bread and tried to find solutions to prevent it.

Elementary and Kindergarten students’ visit to Arkas Maritime History Center. Students performed a “Creative Drama” to learn about maritime and their lives. They were also informed about the maritime history and the differences between the ships in history and today’s ships.

At Arkas Art Center, where we went with our students, we studied the pictures of famous painters and learned about their lives. We choose a painter and revive his period by made a portrait of the lives of people living at that time … We returned to our school and we transformed in painters and made creative pictures.

After receiving our report card from the Italian Consul of Izmir, we were happy to start our holidays!

We enjoyed the show a lot and had lots of fun.

We admired the light used by the painters art work in the exposition. We were impressed to see the beautiful illustrations of the light and shadow used by painters. They are real masters!

We played with the light and we drew beautiful flowers.

We have celebrated the carnival with traditional music and dessert. We prepared our own masks at school. We had fun playing ‘’Pignatta’’.
